In Sami mythology, Lieaibolmmai is the deity of hunting. He is the deity of good fortune and the god of hunting. He appears to people as a bear and dwells among the alder trees, where he gives protection from bears to hunters. He is the king of the forest's wild animals, and hunters performed sacrifices in his honour to ensure success on the hunt. At bear feasts, a combination of ground-up alder bark and water was sprinkled on the hunters' cheeks in Lieaibolmmai's honor.
