An Anu Anum was originally the supreme god of the Babylonian pantheon and was a member of the earliest generation of Mesopotamian deities. He therefore primarily served as a decision-maker, an authoritative figure, and a progenitor. The creation of the cosmos itself was frequently attributed to An or Anu, either alone or along with Enlil and Ea.
