The Babylonian deity Nabu is associated with knowledge, prophecy, scribes, and writing. He is also in charge of the bountiful harvest and all living things. His name, which translates to 'the Announcer,' alludes to his prophetic and creative abilities to summon forth words, the harvest, and other plant life, as well as prophecy-related visions. Since the first millennium, the people of Babylon have worshiped and honored god Nabu as one of the primary gods and have celebrated a large celebration in his honor. The celebration is known as Akitu. Nabu had a significant part in this celebration, which also honored many other deities. The transfer of the Nabu statue from Borsippa to Babylon serves as the festival's major attraction.
