Nannar Nanna Sumerian Symbols Pendant Dangle Charm
The moon god Nannar or Nanna, Sn, Suen was the child of the grain goddess Ninlil and the sky god Enlil. His holy city was Ur, and temples to him have been discovered all across Mesopotamia. The daughters of the Mesopotamian kings were often assigned to be his high priestess. The horizontal crescent of the waxing moon, which resembles the horns of a bull, became the principal representation of the moon deity. This symbolism prompted the idea that the moon god may be a cowherd, which is most prominently commemorated in the song The Herds of Nanna.
