Angra Mainyu Ahriman is the supreme deity of evil, the opponent of Ahura Mazda. Ahriman is opposed to Ahura Mazda. Ahura Mazda creates 16 countries of good, and Ahriman – 16 countries of evil. In contrast to the pure 'Ahura Mazda' animals, Ahriman creates snakes, dragons and other evil spirits. Ahura Mazda sends down his prophet Zarathushtra, and Ahriman tries to tempt or kill him, but to no avail. Ahriman tempts good people, and sometimes he succeeds, as, for example, with the just king Jamshid, in whom he instilled pride, and he imagined himself to be a god, for which he was punished. In the opposition of these two deities, they see the beginnings of a dual religion.
