Ninhursag Damgalnuna Sumerian Symbols Adjustable Open Ring

The earliest goddess in the pantheon of Mesopotamia is Ninhursag, the goddess of earth and mountains. In Sumer, she was first referred to as Damgalnun and Damkina and was connected to fertility. She was also said to have been the creator of both divine and human beings. Her primary responsibility was to take care of people, mostly pregnant women, and little children. She is symbolized by the Greek letter Omega with a knife, where Omega stands for the uterus and the knife that is used to cut the umbilical cord. Her role as the mother is symbolized by this entire portrayal.
