The Seaweed 's flowing, interwoven series of waving lines depicts floating kelp beds – calling to mind the marine vegetation sustaining life along the Peruvian coasts where the Nazca fished. Much as rooted land plants nourished Nazcan agriculture, seaweeds harbored fish, nourishment and maritime commerce, facilitating cultural complexity. This geoglyph may have served as a mystical invocation to summon the rippling seaweeds' continued offerings.
