Tammuz Dumuzid the Shepherd Sumerian Symbols Pendant Dangle Charm
The shepherd-related ancient Mesopotamian god Tammuz, also known as Dumuzid the Shepherd, was Inanna's first and main consort. Geshtinanna, the goddess of agriculture, fertility, and dream interpretation, was the sister of Dumuzid in Sumerian mythology. Dumuzid and the farmer, Enkimdu, compete for Inanna's hand in marriage in the Sumerian poem Inanna Prefers the Farmer. The cult of Ishtar and Tammuz persisted in some parts of Mesopotamia into the eighteenth-century AD, flourishing until that point.
