Asha is one of the basic concepts of Zoroastrianism. It can denote both the natural order of things – the law of universal harmony, and its ethical side: truth and goodness. Ahura Mazda was considered the parent of Asha. The concept is close to Arta (Rta), but more ancient and goes back to the Avesta tradition. The concept of 'asha' in the teachings of Zoroastrianism was opposed to the concept of 'drug' – 'lie, untruth': in moral terms, people were divided into 'ashavan' – the righteous and 'drugvant' – 'adherents of evil'. Asha – order or law, which is the basis of the universe, circles of being revolve around asha. For a righteous person, the law was to be a 'good thought,' a 'good word,' and a 'good deed.'
In the most ancient hymns of the Avesta, the concept of 'asha' is used in several aspects: 1) what is true and truthful, the kingdom of truth and order belonging to Ahura Mazda, sacred, eternal law, divine order; 2) corresponding to sacred law – righteous deeds, good deeds; 3) legitimate claim, including the claim of a person belonging to the Zoroastrian religion for eternal good.
