Hvare khshaeta is the name of the Zoroastrian yazat (divinity) 'Shining Sun'. The short seven-verse 6th Yasht in the Avesta is dedicated to Hvara-khshaete as a call to the Sun. Day 11 of the The Zoroastrian calendar is dedicated and is under the protection of Hvara-khshayeta. Although, according to tradition, Hvara-hshaeta was eventually supplanted by Mithras as the sun god. Hvare-hshayeta is also an emblem of ancient Iranian states and modern Iran till 1979 year, depicted as a sun and lion.
