Legba is referred to as Papa, or The Father, in Vodun. Papa Legba is both the magical and solar archetype. Legba is the Sun, the Orient, the East, the location where life is generated and Magic is governed. Vodun worships the sun as a source of life. Legba is therefore referred to as Legba-Ji, or 'god of the creation.' The east is his cardinal point on the mystical cross.. Legba-Ati-Bon also stands for the 'good wood,' or sacred trees of the African jungle. In the holy trinity, which also includes Erzulie and Danbhalah-Wedo, Legba makes up one-third.
