The York Rite system of Masonic degrees begins with The Royal Arch Masonry, sometimes referred to as 'Capitular Masonry.' One symbol used by the Royal Arch is the triple tau. The Greek letter tau, which is the nineteenth in the alphabet, is referred to as a triple tau. The triple tau in Royal Arch Masonry comprises three Ts that are united at their bases and connected in the middle. This mythological figure can be represented in many ways. First off, the names Hiram of Tyre and Hiram Abif have the same letters 'H' and 'T' in Phoenician, as they do in English. As a result, the Triple Tau adopts the meaning of Hiram Abif's name's initials. In addition, it stands for T. H., Templum Hierolym, the Temple of Jerusalem. When employed as the Royal Arch emblem, certain jurisdictions teach the bearer to accept himself as a servant of God. Third, a tau cross was once used by Christians who were under Greek or Roman influence. In early church history, the trinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit served as the foundation for a triple tau. Many faiths and religions share the belief in the triune character of the Godhead.
